My adventures recreating Next Restaurant’s food at home

About Nextaphile

When I pre-ordered Grant Achatz’s Alinea cookbook early in 2008, I knew it was going to be good.

I decided on the day I first looked through it, that I was going to cook through it. Every recipe. So, I started recording my (mis)adventures in a blog called Alineaphile. I’ll tell you now, I didn’t know it would be so difficult cooking recipes from Alinea Restaurant! But it turned out so rewarding at the same time.

Then I heard that Grant Achatz and Nick Kokonas were opening a new time-travel restaurant called Next, where they’d sell tickets instead of take reservations. Chef Dave Beran came over from Alinea to be Chef de Cuisine at Next. I had to go and check it out.

They have plans to sell cookbooks for each of their menu events, in some digital form. So guess what I’m doing — again?

Cheers!
